India take on South Africa in an all-format series comprising three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests. The series will begin with a T20I on December 10 in Durban. The three T20Is will be played on December 10, 12 and 14. This will be followed by a three-match ODI series on December 17, 19 and 21. Test matches are part of the current World Test Championship cycle. The first Test will be played at Centurion from December 26 to 30. The second Test will be played from January 3 to 7 in Cape Town.
India lost the Test series 2-1 and were whitewashed in the ODI series last time they traveled to South Africa in the 2021-22 season. Virat Kohli quit the Test captaincy after the first Test. KL Rahul led India in the remaining two Test matches, both of which India lost.
This is a good Indian team: Jacques Kallis
This time India has three different captains for three different formats. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the T20I team, KL Rahul will lead the ODI team and Rohit Sharma will lead the Test team. Meanwhile, the former South African all-rounder has warned the Men in Blue that the Proteas are unbeatable at home. He further expressed hope that the series would be very closely fought.
“This is a good Indian team, but it is difficult to beat South Africa in South Africa. Centurion might suit South Africa and Newlands might suit India. I think it will be a good series, and it will come down to a session or two that one team can play better than the other. I think it will be a very closely fought contest,” Jacques Kallis told PTI.
The senior players of the Indian team will return for the Test series against South Africa. Players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin are currently on break.
